Besides the famous Gorillas in Uganda, another notable adventure you shouldn't miss out even with limited Time on your side is the Chimpanzees primates on the Ngamba island in Lake Victoria.The are the most cheeky primates and the island helps you to have an easy glimpse and encounters avoiding the long trekking that you may encounter in the famous Kibaale National park which has the large population. However, unlike the big, bulky mountain Gorillas, that in spite of their sheer size, they are shy and timid, the Chimpanzees are the direct opposite. They are unpredictable in their mannerisms and a little less approachable in most cases.
The thrill of getting close and personal with these primates is truly one of a life time experience and they are fun to hang around. They exhibit Human trait character resemblance indeed, just watch them play, interact with each other and even watch what you are doing.
Ngamba island is a sanctuary for the Chimpanzees aimed at conserving the species. The island did design a number of interactive activities which visitors can enjoy such as feeding the chimpanzees, not forgetting other island adventures such as boat cruises, fishing, bird watch, swimming etc. And a one day safaris will resolve your inner self away from the main city traffic and engagements.
Transport to the island is flexible at reasonable rates, you can leave early morning at 8:00am Uganda/East African Time and be back to the main land by 5:00pm to trend into other Night life events But in case you want to spend a night on the island, accommodation facilities are available for you to relax and enjoy your stay.
